Malaysia will be celebrating Malaysia Day in just a few days time! This special day is to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian Federation on 16 September 1963 which saw Malaya, North Borneo (now Sabah), Sarawak, and Singapore (left the federation in 1965) united into one nation. 

 

The best part is that Keretapi Sarong 2023 (KS2023) is back in conjunction with the 60th Malaysia Day celebration and this event is organized by the trailblazer organization, none other but Locco as an effort to promote Malaysia's cultural mosaic through this annual event. 

 

For your information, the first Keretapi Sarong event was held in 2017.

This year, it is estimated around 10,000 people from diverse cultures and communities will be joining the crowd at Keretapi Sarong 2023. Looking at the success last year, Locco officially announced the secret location for Keretapi Sarong 2023 earlier!

We are thrilled to announce that this year's secret location is at the country's most iconic and historical place - Dataran Merdeka! With the spacious venue that will concurrently be filled with Festival Permainan Malaysia, organized by JKKN on that day, we anticipate more excitement can be enjoyed by the crowd. As we expect a bigger crowd this year, we anticipate the 'flash mob' train ride will also be merrier with Sarong and Ethnic garments donned by the people. Mr Shamsul continued.

 

Indeed, the theme "Ethnicity" is the perfect theme for Keretapi Sarong 2023 as participants will be treated to captivating cultural performances, including traditional dances, music, and storytelling sessions which will provide a deeper understanding of Malaysia's multicultural identity.

Not only will be celebrated locally here in Kuala Lumpur, but the flash mob event will also be concurrently taking place in the local cities of Johor Bahru (along Sungai Segget), Ipoh (KTMB Ipoh), and Kuala Terengganu (Kampung Budaya Terengganu), as well as internationally at London (Battersea Power Station as endpoint).
