Traveling to the Republic of Turkey has always been in my bucket list as I really admire not only the beauty of its nature and amazing architecture, but also the richness of its beautiful traditional and Islamic historic culture as we all know that Republic of Turkey is part of the world's earliest permanently settled regions that inhabited by ancient civilizations. 
 
No doubt that Turkiye is famously known worldwide for its rich, flavorful, multi-layered and diverse dishes that are spread beyond the borders of Istanbul and Anatolia to the Balkans, Eastern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. This is the reason why there are close similarity in term of the cuisine from the nearby regions.

Turkish cuisine is a defining element in Turkish culture with its legendary flavours and creative presentations. Besides the incredible flavours, another interesting aspect of the Turkish cuisine is zero waste which has gained a lot of attention in today's world. 

Zero waste has been a feature of Turkish cuisine for centuries and it inherits a kind of wisdom following the principle of nothing should be wasted. For example, dried bread is turned into homemade crackers, and peels of the edible fruits are used for making jam.

This principle has been preserved for centuries with effort, patience and wisdom as part of the culinary culture that owns unique dishes that take one or two days to prepare. In order to promote this unique cuisine outside of Turkiye and around the world, the Republic of Turkiye is proudly presenting the Turkish Cuisine Week from 21st May 2022 - 27th May 2022. 

The Turkish Cuisine Week has been declared under the auspices of the First Lady of The Republic of Turkiye, Emine Erdogan and with the directive of The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy as an important week that allow everyone to appreciate the Turkiye's deep-rooted culinary tradition, established on the foundations of various cultural civilizations for more than thousands of years.

Turkish Cuisine Week Gala Dinner To Officially Launch The Event From 21 - 27 May 2022 At Lemon Garden, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur
 
A Gala Dinner was held at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur to officially launched the Turkish Cuisine Week on the 17th May 2022 at the Grand Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur. This Gala Dinner is organized by the Turkish Embassy Tourism & Information Office in Kuala Lumpur and it is hosted by H.E Ambassador Dr Merve Safa Kavakci, Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia
 
On top of that, the event is enlivened with the presence of Dato' Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, government officials, local chefs, invited guests, media and influencers.

During the Turkish Cuisine Week, you can indulge all the delicious Turkish cuisine by visiting Lemon Garden, Shangri-La Hotel starting from 21 May to 27 May 2022. The buffet will serve 35 types of dishes that consists of appetizers, main courses and desserts. Some of the dishes that you can look forward to indulge include: 

  • Saksuka (eggplants with tomato salsa)
  • Kadinbudu kofte (fried minced lamb and rice)
  • Yaprak Sarma (stuffed vine leaves with rice)
  • Turkish Coffee 
  • Fistikli Baklava (Baklava with Pistachio)

The gastronomy book not only features an impressive collection of recipes but also discusses healthy storage and cooking techniques used in Turkish gastronomy. This book is published in both Turkish and English, presenting 218 recipes for healthy and alternative diets, including recipes for waste-free, fermented, regional, local and gluten-free dishes. 
 
It is intended to record centuries-old traditional recipe in their original form that allows them to be accessible to future generations.
